Squash at Greenacre Leisure has much history, dating back to 1973. We offer 3 courts with activities from beginner to enthusiast, which include regular social games, match play, tournaments and coached activities. Leagues and Tournament At Greenacre, we run a box league system for players looking for regular competitive games at their own level. To enter these leagues is simple, and they are run throughout the year. Each session is 6 - 7 weeks in length and players have around 5 games to organise and play in this time period. We have a range of tournaments to cater for all levels of player. Our tournaments include a championship for top players, The `Willis Cup` for league 3 - 7 players, a `Micro Cup` for league 7 and below players. A handicap tournament for those of you who have always wanted to make our Pros sweat, and last but not least our Doubles Championships! Squash Coaching Junior Squash coaching takes place every Saturday morning, focusing on mini squash sessions for younger beginners. For older juniors and intermediate/ advanced players there is a junior squash session on Wednesday evenings. Private squash lessons are also available for adults and juniors of all abilities. Costs and details are available from reception. Racket Restringing Greenacre offer a racket restringing service through the expert knowledge and skill of Richard Holmes, for Tennis, Badminton and Squash rackets. Richard provides a very high level of service, with quick turnaround times and a great range of strings available. Please enquire at reception for further information. Court Bookings Our 3 courts are bookable in 45 minute sessions. These are available up to 6 days in advance and can be booked in person or by phone. Non-members may book 3 days in advance subject to court availability. Due to popularity we have a cancellation list for up to 4 players looking for courts which are cancelled. These are offered on a first come first serve basis. Matches Club teams currently play in the Berkshire County Leagues. We have 2 Senior teams which play on alternate Thursday Nights, 2 Vets teams which play on alternate Monday Nights and 1 Ladies team which play on alternate Tuesday Nights.
Badminton Our indoor tennis facility includes 4 Badminton Courts. Members can book courts up to 6 days in advance, and non-members can book 3 days in advance. Club Nights We run a club night open to all standards of players on Monday nights from 7 - 9 pm. We play Men's, Ladies and Mixed doubles. Non-members are also welcome for a small fee. Leagues We currently have a men's team in Division 3 of the Newbury & District League. The team comprises of 3 pairs and will play approx 12 matches, 6 home and 6 away, over the winter season against other local clubs in the league. |
